FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are classes expensive?
The simple answer to this is No, we offer a wide range of programmes suitable for both children and adults at prices that reflect those within the local area and Nationally.
What if I miss a class?
We are a full time facility which offers you the benefit of scheduling classes around your life style. Most of our core programmes have classes on a daily basis, so, if for any reason you are unable to attend one of your scheduled training sessions you can easily make up the class on another day.
Don’t I need to be fit to participate in martial arts?
We have a saying here, ‘fitness happens’ if you are participating frequently in martial arts classes then your fitness will improve regardless of your present fitness levels. Most of our students want to improve their personal fitness and martial arts is a great way of doing this.
Why are there belts in martial arts?
The belt structure in martial arts is a way of rewarding and monitoring progress within the training curriculum. Ensuring that all students are receiving the correct material at the right time is an important factor in progress. The coloured belts used within the martial arts allow both student and instructor to gauge progress.
I have never done martial arts before, will that cause a problem?
No, once again, many of our students have never participated in a martial arts before. When you come along to your first FREE trial classes you will receive personal tuition (within the class group) from one of our Black Belt Instructors on the basic procedures and techniques so that you are able to participate fully within the group sessions.
Martial arts are for young people, won’t I be too old to start?
Again, no, martial arts training is suitable for all ages, true, many young students do participate in martial arts, however, so do many adults of all ages. It is important to remember that your participation in the martial arts is for YOU, we do not expect our older students to keep up with our younger students. We teach the class, you set the pace around your own needs and abilities.
How often should I train?
Keep in mind that with the exceptions of winning the lottery or sudden physical or mental trauma, change is gradual in everything we do. Parents of young children under 7 will notice certain behavioural changes almost immediately. more substantial changes such as physical changes in strength, balance, co-ordination, muscle-toning and weight control, will take place within the first six months of training for all students regardless of age.
I work most evenings, can I train during the day?
Yes, we have two day time sessions per week. Tuesdays & Fridays 12.00 noon till 1.00pm.
The Academy is open weekdays from 11.00am for you to make use of, alternatively, you could take private tuition with any of our instructors at times to suit your individual needs.
If you have a question you would like to ask why not come along to the Academy, we will happily show you around and explain the various programmes we have to offer and answer any of your questions. |
