Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Programme
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is pre dominantly a ground fighting art focussing on submission holds with joint-locks and chokeholds. The premise is that a smaller and weaker person is able to overcome larger and stronger opponents whose advantages are neutralised against a jiu jitsu exponent when grappling on the ground. The grappling classes held at the Academy incorporate skills, drills and techniques from a wide range of grappling arts and train both gi and no-gi arts. The two main systems taught are; Erik Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through Braulio Estima. We now offer 4 classes a week. Beginner sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays 7-8 and advanced on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-8.
