Master Anton St’James has been training in martial arts for over 40 years in a wide variety of martial arts disciplines. He is a Certified 9th Degree Black Belt and International Martial Arts Hall of Fame recipient on two occasions.

| Tom Barlow - Owner |
Tom is one of the countries top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Wrestling competitors. Tom has been training martial arts since he was 18, and teaching since he was 22. In that time he trained in many different styles of martial but found he enjoyed training in grappling and wrestling the most. He begin training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Braulio Estima in 2006. At the same time he established Gracie Barra Plymouth so he had a place to train and teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has quickly progressed through the ranks and was awarded his Black Belt in December 2011 by Braulio. |

They are backed up by a team of black belt instructors and dedicated coaching assistants Additional academy staff include; Sandra-Lee Benwell (Academy Manager & Child Protection Officer) and Sam Tippett (Academy Programme Consultant).
In addition to offering what we believe to be the very best martial arts training facility in the South West all of our Instructors are required to undergo Emergency First Aid Training, those instructors teaching children undergo CRB Checks & Child Abuse Awareness Training and all instructors and coaching staff are fully insured through TL Risk Solutions underwritten by Alianze PLC. In addition all academy coaching staff undergo continuous Instructor Education and are required to complete our own in-house Certified Instructor Training Programme.
